Honoring Frontline Staff, Board Service
At our Annual Member Meeting last week, we had the honor of presenting our Board of Directors Award and Frontline Staff Award. Both of these awards recognize individuals who have been outstanding champions of HDC’s mission and have made an important impact in the community and affordable housing sector. We hope you will join us in congratulating these four awardees!
Frontline Staff Awards
These three awardees work on the frontlines of housing access, resident services, and facilities management. Please join us in uplifting the following Frontline Staff of the Year award winners!
Felege Abera, Facilities Management, Bellwether Housing
Felege has been a member of the Bellwether Facilities Management team for 14 years and currently manages the needs of 5 Bellwether buildings in addition to training all incoming facilities staff. Felege is humble, honest, and deeply committed to her work of maintaining the home of many of Bellwether’s residents.
LaFloura Estrada-Grays, Community Manager, Multi-Service Center
LaFloura goes above and beyond for her residents at the William J Woods Veterans House. Her infectious positive spirit helps residents to stay positive too. As an advocate and role model, LaFloura volunteers her limited free time to mentor young girls of color and to do homeless street outreach. Her spirit, hard work, dedication, compassion, and advocacy are an inspiration to all!
BJ Houston, Shelter Plus Care Property Coordinator, Plymouth Housing
BJ Houston is Plymouth’s longest serving staff member. Throughout her 25 years at Plymouth, she has held multiple roles in a dozen different office locations, but her steadfast commitment to Plymouth’s mission, in addition to her grace and perspective, have been tremendous assets in supporting the organization’s growth and evolution. BJ is wholly committed to doing whatever it takes to help someone stay housed.
Board of Directors Award
HDC’s Board of Directors Award recognizes exemplary leadership in the affordable housing sector.
There are few who epitomize exemplary leadership more than Brian Lloyd. Brian has faithfully served the affordable housing sector for nearly 40 years, and has been an especially integral champion of HDC and our collective vision. Brian’s commitment to community and affordable housing are clear in the 40+ projects he has developed or is currently working as Vice President of Beacon Development Group. Brian has also served on the HDC board for the past 9 years, and as Board president from 2017 – 2018 and 2021 – 2022 and is responsible for the creation of HDC’s Recruiting Diversity Task Force, and our Housing Development Internship Program, launched in 2019.
