Housing and Community Development

In March, 2019, HDC hosted a “Housing and Community Development” summit. The goal of the event and the surrounding work is to get at the tension of “scale and accountability.” We continuously talk about the tremendous need in our region, which is estimated at 156,000 affordable homes needed right now, while at the same time recognizing the risk of displacement and marginalization for communities where development is happening.

The affordable housing community wants to build intentionally and inclusively which means creating authentic partnerships, giving capacity to encourage community-driven projects, and work to navigate power dynamics to achieve equitable results.

We are working to center this conversation through our anti-displacement sub-group of our Policy Advisory Group and through networking events, building best practices, and more. Reach out to Patience to get involved.
